I was injured in Lucca when my foot slipped between the binario and train step (“mind the gap!”). I had to be taken by ambulance to the emergency room. As an American, it was a bit complicated, but fortunately with Google translate and my little Italian (elementary after being away 2.5 years during the pandemic), I managed. Because the skin was deeply cut, torn and shredded around the shin, they could not stitch it, only use mesh bandages (magical!) to hold the skin together until it could heal. I was very grateful for the Italian medical system. (Fellow Americans-imagine an ambulance ride to an emergency room, seeing a doctor, getting emergency treatment and paying €26 as a foreigner?) I was prescribed bandages without antibiotic in the patch or separately, although perhaps a language barrier stopped me from understanding the other patch I would need later. Days after release, my leg was getting infected. I was in Sestri Levante at this point. I went to Farmacia Internazionale (Corso Colombo 52)and they were fabulous! I went just to fill the same prescribed specific products I originally was prescribed and to ask about infection and antibiotic cream. “Dott. Andrea C” (his name tag) in this pharmacy wanted to see the wound and had me unwrap all bandages. He said I definitely had an infection, needed a special mesh infused with antibiotic cream + separate antibiotic cream. He described the exact the order I was to deal with the wound. He took his time with me. There was no fee for his attentive professional help. I purchased the products suggested I have gone in a couple of times as the wound is healing less than a week after I saw him. He reduced the bandage size, kept track of the wound progress and I cannot speak highly enough of this pharmacy. As Americans, we are not used to dealing with the pharmacist instead of going to a clinic, doctor’s office or hospital. In Italy, pharmacies often have a pharmacist who is a “quasi-doctor” or MD to help if you have greater needs than just buying a product. Yes, there are sometimes queues here. but people need to be patient and understand that everyone going in has needs that are being addressed. Yes, occasionally locals may be helped first in Italian pharmacies. I wish people would be more patient and understand that each patron is being served. I saw some tourists coming in without masks, wanting to be served right away for their purchases. Most people here still wear masks in pharmacies regardless of recent rule loosening. I wish everyone would do the same. I’ve been in Sestri Levante many times over the years and for some extended periods. I’m very grateful for Farmacia Internazionale. Highly recommend it.

Historic pharmacy in the center of Sestri Levante. Very kind and professional doctors. Excellent service. I will definitely come back. Recommended.

I give 2 stars only for the helpful and polite staff, all except one doctor (perhaps the owner?), rude and arrogant 1- allows you to ask the reason for the swab request by claiming that it is requested by all pharmacies: false. 2- when asked to print the swab result, he obstructs, saying that it can be seen from the app. 3- he didn't accept my health card claiming that it wasn't needed: false 4- I heard the customer, queuing in front of me, criticized as a young person who doesn't use technology, therefore an "airhead" just because he requested the certificate to be printed. But how dare you? With all the other customers in line listening. Truly scandalous.

I frequent this pharmacy because I find products for celiacs. I dealt with practically all the staff and I must say that I always found availability, attention and kindness. I have often been recommended one product rather than another and my "opinions" on certain items have also been appreciated. Tail? Yes, it happened to me but honestly it's like this almost everywhere now... especially a pharmacy. I also found the same availability when it comes to requesting medicines. Fully satisfied.
